November 2014 Boxycharm Review

I’m back with my Boxycharm review! Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription box. It costs $21 per month and comes with 5 full and sample size products (though I’ve been getting the box since July and have only ever received full sized.) If you are interested in purchasing Boxycharm you can do so here. There is typically a wait list but Boxycharm is doing a holiday special for a limited time only starting December 1st, so if you head over there and purchase one quick enough than you will not have to wait on the wait list… I’m not sure what this means for the people who have been on the wait list but whatever. Get it while you can!

The November Boxycharm theme is “Sparkle & Shine!”

MICA Beauty Cosmetics

Eye Primer ($44.95)

Guys, this product pays for your Boxycharm subscription for the month of November twice over! Double what you pay for the box! Now anyway… I have never used an eye primer so I have nothing to compare it to. I do like it. It has a nice, thick, creamy feel to it and my eyeshadow stuck to it really well. I probably wont fork out $45 for a new one when I run out but I am definitely going to be adding this to my daily routine. Also a little bit goes a long way so it seems like it should last a decent amount of time. 4 out of 5 stars.

Tarina Tarintino Eyelicity Glittler Liner

Liquid Liner in Glitter Mist ($16)

You know how much I love Tarina Tarintino products so I was excited to see this as a sneak peak. Also, even though I had no idea how I was going to wear it, I was equally as excited to see that I got it in an iridescent pearl color. After playing around with it I found I like it best layered on top of my regular eyeliner. This liner has a beautiful sparkle to it, almost a sheen. The glitter comes out in a pinky, green hue and lasts the whole day without budging! I am in love with this! 4.5 out of 5 stars!

Bellapierre Shimmer Powder

Sensation (14.99)

Another iridescent product. This is an eyeshadow in a pearly color. Again I wasn’t sure how to use it because it is almost too sheer by itself. I layered it over the top of one of my purple eyeshadow looks and it gave it a fun, shimmery look. Definitely not a daytime look but still fun none-the-less. This product has awesome pigmentation and a great lasting wear. I’m not really sure how often I’ll use it but I will be keeping it around, probably for fun holiday parties! 4 out of 5 stars.

OFRA Pressed Blush

Paradise Pink ($24.99)

I don’t tend to use blushes as I am a huge fan of Benefit’s Benetint. I very rarely stray away from that product. However, my bottle is getting dangerously low so it was nice to get a blush. One of the things I love about Benetint is that it give you a natural looking glow, like you just came in from the cold. This blush gives you the same sort of flush. In other words it is perfect for me when it comes to a blush color. I won’t lie, I was scared at first. It looks sooo pink!! And when you just rub your finger in it to swatch it is super pigmented. I thought not matter how little I used I was going to end up looking like a hooker. Not true. With a brush it goes on much more sheer, though still nicely pigmented. The formula is awesome and it lasted all day. I must say I may not be needing a new bottle of Benetint as soon as I thought I would! 4 out of 5 stars!

Kevin Murphy Color.Bug

Hair Chalk in White ($24.95)

This was my least favorite of the products in this month’s box. It isn’t that it is a hair chalk, it’s the color. I would have loved the purple or gold just for a fun touch but alas I got white. When I tried a streak in my dark brunette hair it looked like I had a streak that had gone grey. Well… at least I will know what I’m going to look like when my hair changes color. Sigh. This one also doubles as a dry shampoo but I am not a dry shampoo fan so I still won’t use it that way. On the other hand I love the shape of the product. It’s perfect for holding onto while putting the color in your hair. It also went into to my hair very easily. I’ve tried other chalks before and none went onto my hair as easy as this did. So it seems as though the actual product is good, I just won’t use the color. I’ve lucked out on the colors in my boxes so this was bound to happen at some point. While I’m slightly disappointed it isn’t a huge deal. All of the other products make up for it! 2.5 out of 5 stars.

All in all this was a pretty decent box. I will definitely use 3 of the products on a regular basis, 1 on occasion, and the other will probably sit in my bathroom indefinitely. The box retailed at $125.88. Definitely worth it!!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow everyone!

– ❤ S.
